What is an Insert Kit?

An Insert Kit is a chimney liner kit that will enable you to vent a fireplace insert. A fireplace insert is a type of stove that fits into an unused fireplace opening.

An Insert Kit consists of a Rain Cap, Top Plate, Liner, and a Stove Connector. The Stove Connector will fit into the exhaust port on the fireplace insert. The exhaust port collar is usually a 6 inch inner diameter opening. In this case you would use a 6 inch liner.

You can use a 5.5 inch liner if your existing flue isn't big enough for the liner 6 inch liner. This usually happens when the liner is going to be insulated with Insulation Wrap.

The liner size ultimately depends upon the Insert you are installing. Read the manufacturers instructions and requirements carefully before installing a chimney liner.
